Conférence « GRU – Secret intelligence Service » part 1st in english
Presented by Michael Tingay
builder of the German army that invaded Poland in 1939 and France in 1940
When the Financial Times sent Michael Tingay to Cairo as their correspondent in 1974 they omitted to mention what the Secret Intelligence Service might want him to do. Finding himself at cross purposes with the Service, he quit and set out to understand how clandestine services function. After four decades of research he invites you to as series of 20 minute exposés as a prelude to 100 minutes of discussion with an audience. The aim is to approach better understanding of the gap between actualities and public perceptions of clandestine doings in the 20th century.
GRU is short for Glavnoe Razvedyvatelnoye Upravlenie meaning « Main Intelligence Directorate ».
